When it comes to fitness routines, stretching is a favorite for me. I could say because it is easy, but the truth is I love the way it feels—and, okay, that it’s easy. I’ve generally been a morning stretcher, but doing some before bed also make me happy. What it comes down to is that any stretching any time is a good thing.
I am talking here about dynamic stretching. For this type you keep moving rather than static stretching, in which you hold a stretch position from 15 to 30 seconds. Dynamic stretching is good for muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. We now know that it is important for your fascia as well, the tissue that wraps every part of your internal structure. Fascia gets tight and that’s not good; stretching loosens it up and that is good.
